CA and MA Hold the Progressive Torch for America as Corporate Money Buys House Control for GOP

Green Media Political News: The Republican Tea Party announced just one day after taking control of the U.S. House of Representatives in the November 2, 2010 election their plans to add $800 Billion to the U.S. deficit by extending the Bush tax cuts for the richest Americans. In plain English, this means that instead of the richest Americans sending $800 Billion to the U.S. Government to reduce our deficit, they will not send that money, and our deficit will increase because we will have to borrow that money.

Commentary: The country has been duped by the Republican campaign machine, and the nation, for the most part, just seems to be getting stupider and stupider.

The good news is, progressives strongly rejected the corporate power grab in California, saying “No thanks” to Meg Whitman as Governor and “Hell No!” to the Texas oil companies who spent millions of dollars trying to overturn California’s landmark environmental legislation AB32.

Across the country in Massachusetts, there seems to be some significant buyer’s remorse in the wake of the election of Tea Party Republican Scott Brown as every single race in the State was won by Democrats.

The progressive torch for the United States of America is now being protected by a very small but resolute number of States, and the rest of the country is being swayed by corporate money and a disinformation campaign of hate and anti-immigrant propaganda not seen since Mussolini and He-who-shall-not-be-named (the H word) back in the 1900s.

No, this blog is not going to forecast the next Holocaust right here in America. Just to remind readers of the Tea Party Organizer who stomped on the head of a young woman who was exercising her 1st Amendment right of free speech, while another Tea Party imbecile threw a dollar at a disabled war veteran and told him to stop asking for handouts.

America is slipping down the slide of idiocy, led by power hungry Republicans and corporate special interests who are purposely injecting lies and disinformation into the mainstream via their #1 enabler Fox News, and the mainstream of Americans are eating it up like peanut butter and jelly because FOX is cloaked in Red, White and Blue, and continually touts “America-this” and “America-that”… all while systematically dumbing down its audience so they’ll vote for the very people who make the policies that have destroyed America’s middle class and our entire economy.

We asked Justin Ruben from how this can happen in America in 2010, and he said “Democrats made genuine and significant progress on issues like health care and Wall Street reform (over the past 2 years), but the Republicans, Fox, and corporate front groups systematically misled America about all of that. And then those same groups spent hundreds of millions to put Republicans over the top. Progressive heroes like Russ Feingold, Alan Grayson, and Tom Perriello stood up for everything we believe in. But they were swamped by voter frustration and corporate cash.”

Green Media Climate News: Next item on the Republican agenda — after increasing the deficit by another $800 Billion by giving more tax cuts to the rich — is to kill all climate change action. Karl Rove already announced that “Climate is gone.” A new film called Gasland by Josh Fox explores the Bush/Cheney Energy Policy that has resulted in the widespread unrestricted practice of “Fracking” which contaminates drinking water tables with toxic chemicals, and in plain English, accounts for those pictures we’ve seen of people lighting their water on fire as it comes out of their kitchen faucets.

Commentary: Nice job, GOP.

Wall Street News: Republicans have already killed Wall Street reform with a secret backroom deal allowing banks and lending institutions to continue making the same kinds of risky loans which led to the bailout.

Bottom line, for now: Whether the Tea Party Republicans and Independents who voted them into office will ever wake up and see the irony that they are the creators of the problems they are screaming about? This remains to be seen.

In the meantime, thank you California and Massachussetts for holding the torch for America.
